When you said Hoo
A Children's Poem
What would you do if when you talked you said,“Hoo”— If your words were replaced by the sounds owl’s do? How could you ask for snacks or toys When what comes from your mouth is just animal noise? You might wake from a nap and be ready to play But then “hoot hoot hoo” is all you could say. Imagine the looks your friends might take When next you speak it’s just “coos” you make. But then, surely, something must be done For in all this confusion, there wouldn’t be fun. So you’d take your pen and write it all down Each “hoo” and “coo” and the methods of sound. Not only the letters but meanings as well For better is showing than simply to tell. You’d get a whole classroom or maybe some schools And give all who’d listen, the hootish-ing rules. You’d teach it to children and grown-ups, too, Until everyone, all over the world, could "Hoo"; like you.

This is cute. It should be in a book.
